a pdf of my resume:

Red Crow Studio is a freelance creative services company solely owned
and operated by me, John Bridges. I’ve been a professional illustrator
since leaving college in the late ‘80s, and along the way I’ve
added some years of experience as a graphic designer and art director
to my skill set. As a
contractor I’ve accomplished many tasks for a varied list of clients,
including advertising agencies, game developers, and comics publishers. I’ve
created marker comps and storyboard art, penciled comics, created web graphics,
designed books, and completed hundreds of illustrations, in black-and-white
and color. I pride myself on providing professional work in a timely manner
and satisfying my clients. If you like what you see here, and would like to
contact me with an assignment, or inquire about purchasing the original of
any of the pieces represented on the site, please email me at john(a)redcrowstudio(dot)com.
As well as freelancing under the RCS banner,
I’ve also
held a position as art director at Holistic Design in Atlanta, where
I oversaw the graphic elements of the Fading Suns game universe in all
it’s varied incarnations, from pen-and-paper role playing game books,
to tabletop miniatures battles, and a vast, epic raiding-and-trading PC
game of starship action. Pretty cool, huh?
You can see a fairly comprehensive list of my roleplaying
game credits here.
Recently I took on the Herculean, though it sometimes felt
Sisyphean, task of providing art and graphics materials for the Mythic
Journeys conference,
held last June (2004) in Atlanta. Under often grueling turnarounds I: designed
identity logos for the conference and it’s parent organization, the
Mythic Imagination Institute; art directed and created graphics for the
conference website; did design and layout on numerous print advertisements
and promotional posters; did design and layout for a 48-page, full-color,
hardback catalog book to accompany an exhibit of mythic-themed art; did
design and layout for a 64-page conference program book; all while standing
on my head and reciting the alphabet backwards. Well, maybe not that last
one. For all the long nights and too-tight deadlines, in the end it was
one of the most rewarding set of tasks I’ve ever accomplished. The
conference itself was a magical event, and all the great people I’ve
met through the experience have been wonderful additions to my life. Next
up: Mythic Journeys 2006!
The history of me: Born and raised in the Northern Virginia
part of the beltway around Washington, DC., I lived there until heading
to VCU in Richmond in 1983, where I devoted myself to studying art, gaming,
and hanging out. I began freelancing upon leaving VCU, and adopted the
Red Crow Studio name in 1993.
